Psychological Therapy
Dr Esme Dark’s training in clinical psychology combined with her interest in somatic work and eastern philosophies allows her to work with the whole person, blending both clinical and experiential approaches. She believes this holistic approach deeply supports clients to attain lasting change and growth in their lives. A collaborative approach considering the clients unique needs is a key part of Esmes therapeutic work. Esme draws on a variety of therapeutic approaches including mindfulness-based cognitive therapy, somatic psychotherapy and internal family systems.
Group Therapy Programs
Dr Esme Dark runs a range of psychotherapeutic group programmes including Embodying Playfulness, a group programme that enables people to deepen their connection to their bodies through somatic work, creative arts and nature based practices.
Reflective Practice
Dr Esme Dark believes strongly in the importance of wellbeing support for staff working with those who have experienced trauma. She provides consultation, supervision and reflective practice to various organisations across Australia. Clinical Supervision
Dr Esme Dark is a board approved supervisor and provides clinical supervision for psychologists on the register programme. Esme also provides clinical supervision to social workers, counsellors and other mental health professionals looking to deepen their practice with a trauma informed approach. Clinical Psychedelic Research Trial
Dr Esme Dark currently works as Trial Therapist as part of the Clinical Psychedelic Research Lab at Monash University. The team are investigating psilocybin-assisted psychotherapy to treat Generalised Anxiety Disorder. This is the first trial in the world to look at psilocybin- assisted psychotherapy as a treatment for generalised anxiety disorder and is the largest Psychedelic research trial in Australia to date. She is also working on the upcoming trial looking at the safety and efficacy of MDMA assisted Psychotherapy for Post Traumatic Stress Disorder in Military Veterans and First Responders.
